Australia's Lara Tamsett, at 20 years of age, has already learned one of the most important aspects of training; rest. "People underestimate the value of rest. I try to do one good session a day and then rest."
She has also learned when to push and when to hold back. "I don't like to push my body to the limits in training. It's more important to be a better racer than a trainer."
Knowing when to rest and how much to push your body is not as easy as it sounds. It takes time to trust yourself and know when to hold back, something most high school runners have trouble doing. We can learn from this young woman!
Oh, by the way, she is already a National Champion!!!
