Chris Derrick of Stanford ran a solo 13:44.02 5,000m. at the Washington indoor track last night. What's amazing about this is that Chris is still the age of a high school senior. Last year in his senior year of high school at Nequa Valley (Illinois), Chris ran an outdoor, solo, 13:55.96.
Chris's next big race will be the National Junior Cross Country Championships on February 7th in Maryland. With Chris and German Fernandez in the race, it's going to be exciting. What's even more exciting is what our U.S. team will look like for the World Junior Championships.
