Running in the Dark

In the winter months the daylight doesn't last long. There are occasions when you have to run in the dark. When running in the dark becomes necessary, it is wise to take some precautions. One of the best devices to use is a head lamp. The Princetontec Aurora spreads a good amount of light on the road, is light weight, compact, and water proof. The best part is that it can be purchased for under $25.00. Although such a light can help you see in the dark when you run, it is not the end all for dark running. What's very important is that other people and cars can see you. If a person or vehicle is coming toward you, the head light will be sufficient enough to let them know that you are there. If they are coming from behind, other measures need to be taken. Reflective running gear such as jackets and straps will illuminate your full body to let others see you.

If you have to run in the dark please take precautions to keep yourself safe. Illuminate yourself as much as possible and stay to the side of the roads or run on paths or trails. Since you will have limited visibility, slow down your pace and keep your mind focused on your surroundings.
